Cochrane China (Institute of Health Data Science, Lanzhou University) was established in January 2020 at the Institute of Health Data Science, Lanzhou University. Lanzhou University, which founded in 1909, has been the best university in the northwestern region of China, ranking as one of the top 30 among over 1,500 universities across China. The director of the center, Prof. Yaolong Chen, is a guideline methodologist at the Evidence Based Medicine Center of Lanzhou University. He is the founding director of Chinese GRADE Center and co-director of WHO Collaborating Centre for Guideline Implementation and Knowledge Translation. He is also Chair of GIN Asia (Guideline International Network). He received his Bachelor degree on clinical medicine in Lanzhou University, Master degree on evidence-based medicine in Chinese Cochrane Center, and PhD degree on Integrative Medicine in Lanzhou University. He studied guideline development in McMaster University between September 2010 and March 2011 as a visiting research fellow and worked for the WHO Guidelines Review Committee between September 2013 and March 2014 as a volunteer.

The center aims to accelerate the translation from evidence to practice in China.
